Garhwali film ‘Sunpat’ to be screened at IFFI 2021

Rahul Rawat’s directorial ‘Sunpat’ becomes the first Uttarakhand film to be shown at the 52th International Film Festival of India. The movie has been placed under the Indian Panorama section and is amongst the 20 Non-Feature films which will be screened in Goa.
Sunpat is a beautiful story of two young lads, Anuj and Bhartu who are friends trying to figure out a way for Anuj to propose to a girl. It is a puppy love story shot in the beautiful state of Uttarakhand and as it moves forward, the audience witness the scenic mountains and the lush greenery of the Garhwal region. Sunpat means ‘silence’ in Garhwali and besides the young love, the issue of migration faced by the villages and the trials and tribulations faced by the people up in the mountains are the key highlights of the film. What sets it apart is the local language spoken and the characters which are played by the local people.
Indian film director, Rahul Rawat started off his career working in the advertising production and later worked as a production assistant in the industry. He had worked with many famous ad-film directors and joined Percept Pictures as writer/director in Mumbai. It was when he shifted focus to the film production, he worked on a lot of commercial and non-commercial projects
Sunpat is set to release on November 20, 2021 and will be available in English language.
