A gas distribution vehicle was seized after four LPG cylinders were allegedly found partially emptied during an inspection in Soda Sarauli village under Raipur area, Dehradun on Sunday. Around one to 6.5 kilogrammes of gas had been removed from each of the four cylinders, raising concerns over illegal gas transfer and consumer safety. The district administration said that the inspection was carried out on the directions of the Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan after a complaint was received. Regional food officer Santosh Bhatt was sent to the spot to check the domestic LPG distribution vehicle of Ordinance Gas Service, Raipur.
The vehicle had 26 domestic LPG cylinders. Four cylinders were found with gas removed, while the remaining 22 were completely filled. Officials also recovered a refiller used for transferring LPG from the spot. Local residents reportedly told the officials that gas was being illegally removed by distribution workers. They also provided video evidence of the alleged activity. Following the inspection, the vehicle was seized and a case was registered at Raipur police station against two employees, Jaiprakash and Ratnesh and Ordinance Gas Service, Raipur, under relevant legal provisions.
All 26 cylinders were safely deposited at a nearby cooperative gas service centre, administration officials said. District supply officer KK Agrawal said strict action would continue against individuals and organisations found compromising the interests of consumers.
