GDMC hospital takes stern stance on unpaid salaries of sanitation workers

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/Dehradun
Following the revelation that sanitation workers at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital were not receiving their salaries on time, the hospital administration took decisive action and issued a notice to the responsible tendering company Ajmira.
The principal of the hospital Dr Geeta Jain said that the bill for January 2026 had not been submitted within the required timeframe, resulting in delays in salary payments for the sanitation staff. The administration highlighted that such delays could create unrest among employees, potentially affecting the hospital’s operations.
In light of this situation, Jain has directed the firm to promptly submit its bills to prevent any further salary delays. Additionally, she has issued a stern warning that if this negligence disrupts the hospital’s sanitation or health services, the firm will face legal repercussions.
It is important to highlight that sanitation workers have previously raised concerns about delayed salary payments. These late payments have led to multiple work boycotts by the sanitation staff, which in turn has impacted the cleanliness of the hospital.
The hospital management has firmly declared that ensuring a clean, safe and improved treatment environment for patients is their utmost priority and any form of negligence in achieving this will not be accepted.
