In what is being seen as a response of the State administration to the recent spike in serious crimes especially in Dehradun, nearly two dozen IPS and PPS officers have been transferred from their posts, including the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh.
Singh has been transferred to the post of Special Task force SSP while Haridwar SSP Pramendra Dobal has been transferred to the post of Dehradun SSP. The STF SSP Navneet Singh has been sent to handle the post of Haridwar SSP while Champawat superintendent of police Ajay Ganpati Kumbhar has been posted as the Udham Singh Nagar SSP replacing Manikant Mishra transferred to the post of Intelligence SP. Other senior and junior police officers have also been transferred to other positions but the transfer of the SSPs of Dehradun, Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar is being seen as a reaction of the State administration to recent spike in crimes and controversies in these three districts. However, critics opine that the administrative changes might have little changes to the situation prevailing in the system.
