Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal has strongly condemned the misbehaviour with Shankaracharya Avimukteshwarnand Saraswati of Jyotish Peeth at Prayagraj.
In a statement on Thursday, the PCC president said that misbehaviour with Shankaracharya is not only unfortunate but also an attack on traditions and culture of Sanatan Dharma. He said that the Saint community has always given direction to the country and it is the responsibility of the government and society that the Saints are given the due respect. Godiyal said that it is unfortunate such incidents are happening in Uttar Pradesh under patronage from the State government.
“The incident reflects the administrative insensitivity and arrogance of the BJP governments under whom the saints occupying the highest seats in the Sanatan Dharma are being insulted,’’ he said.
The media-in- charge of Uttarakhand Congress, Rajiv Mehrishi said that on the call given by the PCC president Ganesh Godiyal, silent protests will be held in the temples in all Vidhan Sabhas. The Congressmen will observe a silence of two hours in the temples as a mark of protest against misbehaviour with Shankaracharya, he said.
