The Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal has said that in view of large -scale anger in the people of the State, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is under pressure to recommend a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe in the Ankita Bhandari murder case. He said that the parents of Ankita have been demanding a CBI inquiry for the last three and half years.
Godiyal said that CM’s statement that he will interact with parents of Ankita for deciding future course of action is a prelude for recommending CBI probe in the case which has shaken the collective conscience of the people of the State. Interacting with the media-persons at the headquarters of Uttarakhand Congress here on Wednesday, Godiyal said that the BJP should change its leadership in the State for a fair inquiry in the Ankita Bhandari murder case.
He said that the Congress is firm on its stand that in the light of new disclosures, the high profile Ankita Bhandari murder case should be handed over to the CBI and the investigation should be monitored by a sitting judge of the High Court. The PCC president claimed that Vanantra resort where Ankita was working was demolished with the help of a JCB as part of a conspiracy to destroy evidence in the case and shield someone very influential. He said that CM tried to take credit for the demolition at that time. The PCC chief said that the police should also question the national general secretary of BJP in the case as a former MLA of BJP has claimed in a viral audio that he was the VIP involved in the case.
Former MLA of Kedarnath Manoj Rawat, Rajiv Mehrishi, Jaswinder Singh Gogi and Pratima Singh accompanied Godiyal.
