Govt Docs should not prescribe medicines from outside- Minister
The health minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that the doctors of the government hospitals have been directed not to prescribe the medicines from outside. He warned that strict disciplinary action would be initiated against the doctors not following the order.
The minister was speaking at Jan Aaushadhi Mitra conference organised at Deendayal Upadhyaya (Coronation) Hospital here on Friday. He said that 204 medicines are being distributed free of cost in the government hospitals so that people are not forced to purchase expensive medicines from outside. He said that the pathology tests too are being conducted free of cost in the government hospitals. The minister said that the different health schemes of state and central government are being provided to the people of the state and it is reflected in an improvement of four points in the child mortality rate in the state. Earlier this rate was 31 per thousand births and now it has dropped to 27 per thousand births.
The director general (DG) of state health services Dr Tripti Bahuguna said that apart from 204 medicines the chief medical officers (CMO) and medical superintendents can purchase medicines from Jan Aushadhi centres and selected firms.
The CMO of Dehradun Dr Manoj Upreti, CMS of Coronation hospital Dr Shikha Jangpangi and others were present on the occasion.
