Govt kept people in dark about facilities given to Kumar: Dasauni

The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni has said that the Uttarakhand High Court’s observations in the case involving the Khanpur MLA Umesh Kumar and former MLA Pranav Singh Champion reflect that the State government has kept the people of the State in dark about the facilities provided to the Khanpur MLA.  She said HC comment is like fresh air and raises questions as to why ‘Y’ plus security was given to the MLA and why a large bungalow of the irrigation department was allotted to MLA Kumar.

Dasauni said that it is unfortunate that the State government preferred to keep quiet on the actions of two rowdy leaders in Khanpur. She added that it is very mystifying that the ruling party MLA was sent to jail and the independent MLA was granted bail on similar offences. Dasauni said that it appears that Kumar knows something about the politicians due to which proper action is not being taken against him. She also expressed surprise at the fact that Kumar, who is out on bail, was allowed to go on a foreign trip. The Congress leader said that the speaker Ritu Khanduri is sitting over a disqualification plea filed under the anti-defection law under Khanpur MLA Umesh Kumar.
