MCD intensifies Swachhta Week campaign with drives in parks, ISBT and railway station

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Thursday intensified sanitation drives and awareness activities across the city on the third day of the ongoing Swachhta Week campaign, following directions from the Urban Development directorate.
The officials said that the special cleanliness drives were carried out at key public locations, including memorial sites, major intersections, community and public toilets and transport hubs such as the ISBT and the railway station. Areas covered under the campaign included Tilak Park, Kedar Park, Shaheed Park, Gandhi Park, MDDA Park and Defence Colony Park, where extensive cleaning and public awareness activities were conducted. A cleanliness drive was also organised at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay park in ward 21 with mayor Saurabh Thapliyal, municipal commissioner Namami Bansal, councillor Rohan Chandel and assistant municipal commissioner Rajbir Singh Chauhan, along with sanitation inspectors and newly appointed sanitation workers also present on the occasion.
During the programme, three sanitation workers were honoured under the Atal Nirmal Nagar Puraskar Yojana for their performance in maintaining cleanliness standards. The officials said that Anju, Kalp and Sonu received cash awards of Rs 10,000 each as recognition for their work.
The corporation said that the campaign, being conducted under the theme “Swechha se Swachhta – Maha Abhiyan,” focuses on strengthening public participation, promoting waste segregation at source and improving sanitation outcomes across the city.
The civic body has appealed to residents to actively participate in the campaign and support efforts to maintain cleanliness.
