The Union minister of Commerce and Industry, and Consumer Affairs, Piyush Goyal will reach Pithoragarh on April 16 as part of efforts to take forward the Vibrant Village programme. The Bharatiya Janata Pary State spokesman Suresh Joshi informed that during his visit, Goyal will survey the development schemes in the border area and spend a night in the Gunji village. Joshi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a special affection for Uttarakhand due to which Union ministers are visiting the State frequently to check the progress of development schemes. Goyal will reach the border areas of Pithoragarh district to check works being undertaken as part of the Vibrant Village programme. During his visit, the Union minister will also seek information about the development schemes of the Centre being implemented here and interact with the local residents about their issues. Joshi thanked PM Modi for following up on his promise to make the pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar easier. He said that in 1980 it used to take 17 days of hard journey to reach Kailash Mansarovar through the Dharchula-Lipulekh border but now due to the efforts of the Central government a road has been constructed upto the border due to which the duration has been shortened considerably to half an hour.
