A significant step has been taken to nurture sports talent in Roorkee, as cabinet minister and Roorkee MLA Pradeep Batra performed the Bhoomi Poojan and Havan for a Rs 2.28 crore project to modernise Nehru Stadium into a state-of-the-art sports hub on the weekend. This project is part of a broader initiative led by chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
During the event, Batra emphasised that no budding athlete from Roorkee should be held back due to a lack of resources. He assured attendees that Nehru Stadium will be equipped with world-class facilities that reflect the pride and reputation of Roorkee. The aim is to enhance the training and development of local athletes by providing them with modern training facilities. This sports hub will not only give Roorkee a new identity in the sports arena but will also help fulfill the aspirations of young people in the area, he added.
Local citizens and sports enthusiasts have praised this initiative. After completion of the revamp, this modern sports hub is expected to be a major asset for the region’s athletic talent.
