Growing defence equipment export, symbol of India’s strategic power: CM

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that the defence production in the country in the year 2014-15 was about Rs 46,000 crore which increased to Rs 1.54 lakh crore in the year 2024-25. The CM said that the defence exports from the country have also increased to Rs 38,000 crore and today India provides defence equipment to more than 80 countries, which is a symbol of the country’s growing strategic power. 

He was addressing Gaurav Sainik Samman Samorah organised on the occasion of the sixth death anniversary of his father Subedar Sher Singh Dhami in Khatima on Thursday. The programme was organised under the aegis of the Seva Sankalp Dharini Foundation.

The CM said that the State government is fully committed to the welfare of soldiers, martyrs and their families. He said that the ex-gratia amount given to the families of martyrs has been increased and government jobs are being provided to their dependents. Additionally, the financial assistance provided to soldiers receiving gallantry awards has also been significantly increased. 

Dhami said that the amount given to recipients of Param Vir Chakra has been increased from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore. He said that a grand Sainnya Dham is being constructed in Dehradun, which will inspire future generations. The State government has extended the application period for government jobs for the families of martyrs from two to five years, he added. In the ceremony, the CM paid a rich tribute to his father.

He said that his father’s thoughts, principles and life of struggle still inspire him and guide him at every step. 

Soldier Welfare minister Ganesh Joshi said that the State government is continuously working for the welfare of soldiers and further efforts will be made in this direction in the future.  In the programme, the CM also honoured the families of the martyrs and Veer Naris.
