Tourism, MSME powering economy of Uttarakhand: governor

Governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh has said that progress made by Uttarakhand in tourism, micro small medium enterprises (MSME) and other sectors is strengthening the economy of the State. He said that the State is committed to sustainable and balanced development. The governor was addressing MIICCIA Legend Enterprise Awards-2026 in New Delhi on Thursday.
In his address, the governor invited industry to invest in Uttarakhand in sectors such as tourism, wellness, manufacturing and renewable energy. Congratulating the award winners, the governor said that entrepreneurship is not just an economic activity but a powerful force for nation-building. He added that behind every successful enterprise lies determination, hard work and the ability to make decisions under adverse circumstances. Referring to his military experiences, he said that the true test of leadership comes in difficult circumstances.
The governor said that institutions like MIICCIA serve as a bridge between government and industry, fostering dialogue, coordination and collaboration. He commended the institution for its role in promoting entrepreneurship over the past decade.
Referring to the goal of Viksit Bharat @2047, he said that realizing this vision requires the participation of all stakeholders. He said that the government provides a conducive environment while industry and entrepreneurs drive development through innovation, investment and implementation.
