A businessman from Halduchaur, Deepak Joshi (40) was killed in a road accident when a speeding car coming from Haldwani hit the two-wheeler he was riding near the State Bank of India branch in the town. He was rushed to the Susheela Tiwari Government Hospital where he was declared dead. Police informed that Joshi ran an electrical item shop in Halduchaur and the accident occurred at around 10 PM on Sunday when he was returning home after shutting his shop.
The locals demanded the administration to take steps to stop accidents on the stretch of the road near the SBI branch which, according to them, was an accident-prone spot.
