Half-burnt body mystery solved: Love affair motivates the murder

Claiming to have solved the blind case involving a half-burnt body found on the side of a highway, Haridwar police said that a love affair had been the motive behind the murder. Revealing details, police said that it was a harrowing tale of love and betrayal leading to murder. The accused had strangled his girlfriend to death and then, to erase her identity, doused the body with diesel fuel and set it on fire. Notably, the half-burnt body had been found
in a village called Ghaziwali under Shyampur police station area on October 18. The SSP Haridwar Pramendra Dobhal had himself reached the spot and formed a special team for the disclosure.
Police had scanned over 300 CCTV footages in the technical investigation and identified a white container truck with the help of ANPR cameras.
The investigation had also revealed that a woman called Seema Khatoon from Udham Singh Nagar had been reported missing.
During interrogation, the female co-accused confessed that Seema had been travelling in a truck with her boyfriend, Salman, on October 17. They had had a fight on the way after which Salman (30) had strangled her to death and burned her body in Shyampur.
Police arrested the main accused Salman and his female accomplice. The truck was impounded, too.
