Harshika weds Lord Krishna ceremonially

Seemingly strange things happen in this State reverently called Dev Bhoomi or the abode of gods. Many spiritually advanced individuals are known to feel spiritual vibrations emanating from every pore of this State hallowed by the sadhana of myriad saints over thousands of years. So, what has just happened in a house at Prempur Loshgyani in Indraprastha Colony in Haldwani is unlikely to surprise those who are acquainted with the mystical traditions of this Himalayan State.
A 21- year -old Harshika ceremonially got married to her beloved Kanha or Lord Krishna in the form of an idol brought from Vrindavan in keeping with the Kumaoni tradition with vibrant participation of her parents, relatives and neighbours. A grand wedding feast was arranged on the occasion preceded by the customary mehndi and haldi ceremonies. All present chanted mantras and sang songs devoted to Radha Krishna which reverberated in the house long after the ceremony was over.
Harshika is known for her beauty but she is a specially abled woman with the lower part of her body being incapacitated. What is curious is that she bears no grudge against the Divine for this but she embodies pure devotion for the Divine -no grievance, no give and take bargaining, no demand but surrender- pure and pristine.
Narrating the strange ‘love affair’ between Harshika and the Lord, her relatives said that it has been going on for the past 15 years. “She observes Karva Chauth fast every year. We heard her several times speaking to her lover-the Lord-for hours inside her room. She has been applying vermilion in the parting of her hair and taking vows of remaining the Lord’s soul mate for the coming seven lives. Such a love between the Lord and his devotee has been solemnised by the wedding,” said Harshika’s aunt.
“We made all arrangements required for a formal Kumaoni wedding. Jaimala ceremony was held and she garlanded the groom-the idol. We consider this as a rare luck: marrying our daughter off to the Lord of this universe,” said
Harshika’s mother Meenakshi Pant.
Echoing the same emotion, her father Puranchand Pant said that he had made Lord Krishna his son-in-law. “He will be with us, residing with us, living with us, eating with us. This bond will remain unbroken through eternity,” he said.
