Though powerful cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat has not commented anything yet on his dramatic exit from the state cabinet meeting on late Friday evening, his threat of resignation and acceptance of his demand on Kotdwar medical college by the government he has proved that he has mastered the art of pressure politics. An astute politician he is, Harak knows it too well that after the exit of senior minister Yashpal Arya the ruling BJP would succumb to his pressure tactics.
The political analysts point out that Rawat deliberately picked up the issue of the Kotdwar medical college to throw a gauntlet at his own government as it is associated with the aspiration of the people of Kotdwar, the constituency he represents in the state assembly. After having his way, at least for the time being, Harak Singh Rawat can now tell the people of Kotdwar that he was ready to sacrifice his ministerial berth for their cause. It is learnt that Harak also wants party tickets for his daughter in law and some of his close supporters and by enacting the drama on Friday night he has managed to add weight to his bargaining power within BJP.
