In latest news from Uttarakhand, the Congress veteran Harish Rawat observed silence for 15 minutes at Ranipur in Haridwar to protest against the daylight jewellery robbery and police failure to apprehend the culprits. Thereafter, he led a protest march from Ranipur Mod to Parshuram Chowk. Later, firing a salvo at the BJP government in the State, Rawat said that the law and order having crumbled, crimes against women, minorities and dalits had been on an alarmingly ascending graph.
“We wonder how the brazen jewellery heist took place at the bustling Ranipur Mod? What the police were doing? They owe an answer to the scared people,” he said and added that they would launch a full-blown stir if the culprits remained at large, taking it to Dehradun.
