The announcements made by the head of the campaign committee of Congress and former chief minister Harish Rawat concerning youth of Uttarakhand are empty promises and just a political stunt ahead of 2022 Uttarakhand assembly elections to lure voters.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) levelled this charge on Rawat while adding that like the leaders of BJP, the Congress is also stealing their ideas and strategies for the upcoming elections. The state spokesman of the AAP, Naveen Pirshali told media persons here on Monday that both BJP and Congress are making false promises to lure the voters in the state. He said that Rawat recently talked about providing monthly unemployment allowances to unemployed youths if Congress comes to power next year and even started a campaign against unemployment. He said, “The AAP has made these announcements weeks ago and has started the campaign too to register unemployed youth in the state. Leaders of Congress and BJP are feeling threatened with our approach towards prominent public issues and they are blatantly stealing our strategies like promising to provide unemployment allowances and free electricity that they never offered before.” He also questioned Rawat that why Congress did not take such initiatives during his time as the CM. He said that before making false promises to the people of Uttarakhand ahead of the elections, Rawat should ensure that Congress ruling states receive these facilities first. “Rawat is using the unemployment issue just for the sake of elections.
The people protesting against unemployment in the state were lathicharged during his time as the CM. He had provided employment opportunities only to his and his ministers’ acquaintances during his time in the office,” stated Pirshali.
