Police took a Haryana resident in custody for allegedly attempting to run over a man after a video of the incident went viral on Monday.
The video showed a truck with a Haryana number plate moving on Sahastradhara Road during no-entry hours. The victim Naveen Gaur alleged that the truck was being driven recklessly on the road, putting lives of people at risk.
He claimed that when he tried to stop the truck driver he increased the speed and tried to run over him. Gaur also alleged that after he went to register a complaint in Raipur and Dalanwala police stations, there was no one.
Talking about the incident, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said that the social media cell of the police came across the video after which, the police started investigation. “The police called the victim to the police station for the case registration.
The truck driver who was driving recklessly in a busy road was also taken into custody from Paonta and seized the truck. He was identified as Pramod (25), a resident of Hisar, Haryana,” he said. The SSP said that the case is under investigation and further action will be taken accordingly. The police will also look into allegations made by the victim, he added.
