The Uttarakhand High Court has directed the State government and the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) to examine the complaint of irregularities in award of contract for hoardings in Dehradun. The order was given by the bench of Chief Justice Ritu Bahri and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal on Friday while hearing the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Dehradun resident Abhinav Thapar and others. The bench also directed the petitioner to file an affidavit stating whether the illegal hoardings have been removed or not which the counsel of MCD had claimed. The next hearing in the case will be on September 10.
In the PIL, Thapar has alleged large scale irregularities in award of contract for hoardings in MCD and claimed that the scam is of Rs 300 crore.
