U’khand 25: Silver Jubilee Week begins in Uttarkashi

To commemorate 25 years of Uttarakhand’s statehood, the Silver Jubilee Week was inaugurated at the Ramlila ground here on Monday with colourful cultural programmes and other events.
On the first day, students from various schools from across the district along with cultural groups from the Information and Public Relations department, presented Uttarakhand’s folk culture- traditional folk dances, folk songs and instrumental performances.
In his inaugural address, the district panchayat president, Ramesh Chauhan emotionally remembered the statehood martyrs. He also remembered former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. “His vision made Uttarakhand’s existence as a State possible,” he said, adding that the celebration was a pledge to help the State move forward.
The chief development officer Jai Bharat Singh said that Uttarkashi district has been rapidly progressing towards development. He also shared information about various public welfare schemes being executed here.
A string of departments put up stalls in the ground, showcasing public welfare schemes and local products.
