Health department to set up Task force of experts for TB free U’khand

Health minister asks all medical colleges of the state to adopt one district each for TB free task

The Uttarakhand government has decided to constitute a task force for making the state free from tuberculosis (TB). The State has taken a target to become free from TB by the year 2024.  The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat chaired a meeting of the Principals of the government and private medical colleges on Friday. In the meeting deliberations on various issues were held. Rawat said that the state government has set a target to make Uttarakhand free from TB  by the year 2024. He said that all the medical colleges of the state including All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh would adopt one district each to meet the objective of TB free Uttarakhand. He said a state level task force headed by the mission director National Health Mission (NHM) would be constituted for the purpose and one expert each would be included in the task force. The minister informed that the state government would also start a special campaign for testing and treatment of cancer in the state. He said that a high level committee would be set up in which one cancer expert from every medical college would be included as a member. Rawat disclosed that the expansion of tele- medicine and air ambulance service would be made for ensuring that better health care facilities are available to the general public. Rawat said that it is the endeavour of the state government that the district hospitals of the state are equipped with every facility so that 95 per cent patients of an area are treated at the district level only. He informed that the state government is making appointments of the expert doctors. Efforts are also being made to train the para medical staff and ward boys of government hospitals at AIIMS Rishikesh and other medical colleges, he said.

 Rawat said that in an attempt to promote sports and cultural activities in the medical students, annual sports and cultural meets would be organised in all the medical colleges of the state.

 The meeting was attended by the secretary health Radhika Jha, director general (DG) medical education Ashish Srivastava, director AIIMS- Rishikesh Dr Meenu Singh, Vice Chancellor (VC) of SGRR university U S Rawat, VC Subharti University Dr Yashvardhan, VC Himalayan university Vijay Dhasmana, Principal Dr Ashok Devradi, Principal Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Dr Ahutosh Sayana, Principal Srinagar Medical college Dr CMS Rawat and others were present on the occasion.
