With the superannuation of chief secretary Radha Raturi on April 31, Uttarakhand is all set to get a new head of the State bureaucracy.

Raturi was scheduled to retire on April 31 last year but the Pushkar Singh Dhami government granted her two successive extensions of six months each. She is now unlikely to get a third extension and learnt to have applied for the post of chief information commissioner.

In the administrative circles, the name of additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan is making rounds as the next CS of the State. An officer of the 1992 batch of the Indian Administrative Services (IAS) Bardhan is the senior most officer in the State.   He is the only ACS in the State administration and given his seniority and extensive administrative experience and in all likelihood will be appointed by the State government on the coveted post.

After Anand Bardhan, RK Sudhanshu and L Fenai are holding the rank of principal secretary and belong to the 1997 batch of IAS. However, both of them have not yet completed the minimum service period prescribed for the post of CS.
