Heavy rain: Badrinath & Hemkund Sahib Yatra suspended till Sept 5

Taking note of the heavy rain warning from September 1 to 5 in the State issued by the regional Meteorological Centre, Dehradun, the Chamoli district administration has suspended the Yatra to Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib till September 5.
The district administration apprehends that a large swathe of Chamoli might experience massive landslides and road blockages encompassing Kameda, Nandprayag, Pagalnala and Bhanerpani.
The district magistrate Sandeep Tiwari said that the decision to suspend the Yatra to the two shrines had been taken to ensure safety of the pilgrims. Also, he appealed to the pilgrims and the locals to follow the guidelines issued by them in view of the adverse weather conditions as predicted by the Met office.
