Ramesh Chauhan elected unopposed district Panchayat president

The newly elected president of the Zila Panchayat, Ramesh Chauhan took the oath of office and secrecy at a programme held here on Monday. The district magistrate, Prashant Arya administered the oath of office to him. Notably, a Zila Panchayat president has been elected unopposed for the first time in Uttarkashi district.
Thereafter, Chauhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to the vice-president and newly elected members.
The Cabinet minister, Ganesh Joshi joined the programme virtually and congratulated the newly elected office- bearers of the district Panchayat.
Among those present on the occasion were the MLA Purola, Durgeshwar Lal; MLA Gangotri, Suresh Chauhan and district BJP president, Nagendra Chauhan.
Later, while speaking to the media, Ramesh Chauhan said that his priority is to speed up inclusive development in the Panchayat area, stressing on developing infrastructure, education, health services and road connectivity aside from promoting horticulture. He urged all Panchayat representatives to work unitedly to bring normalcy in the disaster-affected areas.
