The Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara will be reopened to devotees on May 23. The chairman of the Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Management Sahib Trust Narendrajeet Singh Bindra said this during a courtesy meeting with chief secretary Anand Bardhan on Monday.
After Bindra informed the CS about the opening date of Hemkund Sahib, the duo also discussed travel arrangements and facilities for pilgrims. Bardhan enquired about enhancing facilities for the pilgrims during the pilgrimage and assured all possible support while directing the local administration to ensure that proper arrangements are made.
Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara and the ancient Lokpal Lakshman Mandir are located at an altitude of 15,200 feet in the Chamoli district. The site where the Gurudwara is built is believed to be where the tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh meditated and attained spiritual enlightenment. Every year, devotees from around the world undertake this challenging journey to the holy shrine.
