Thursday, 22 October 2020 | PNS | Dehradun
The death of 14 patients on Wednesday has again highlighted the concern over comparatively high mortality from the disease in Uttarakhand. The death rate in the state is at 1.61 percent which is higher than the national average of 1.51 percent.
It is pertinent to mention here that the union government has directed the states to ensure that the mortality rate is kept below 1 percent. In Uttarakhand the four plain districts of Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital have so far contributed 93 percent of total deaths in the state. The death rate of Dehradun district is at 3.34 percent which is very high.
