The Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University will hold an entrance examination for its PhD courses on May 17. The online application process for PhD admissions will begin from Friday. The registrar of the university, YP Raiwani said that the students can apply online through the Samarth portal till May 1 for admission in the PhD courses of the university. He said that the admit cards for the entrance exam will be available for download from May 12.
Pertinently, the university had previously issued a notification for PhD admissions, inviting applications from candidates in the exempted category. The current notification now opens the process for other candidates, especially those applying through the entrance examination. The university clarified that candidates who had already applied under the previously issued notification are not required to reapply. The entrance examination will be of two hours duration and the candidates need to secure 50 per cent marks for the general category and 45 per cent for the reserved category in order to qualify.
Successful candidates will be invited for an interview, where their research proposal and eligibility will be evaluated, the registrar said.
