Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU) on Wednesday has finalised its admission framework for the 2026–27 academic session, deciding that undergraduate admissions will be conducted through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) and postgraduate admissions through a University Entrance Test (UET).

The officials said that the decision was made at the admission committee meeting chaired by the vice-chancellor, Prakash Singh and approved the academic calendar along with key admission-related decisions for the upcoming session. The university will soon begin the process for conducting the UET for postgraduate programmes, while the PhD entrance examination process will also be initiated shortly after approval of the seat roster, the officials added.  In line with the National Education Policy 2020, the university will introduce one-year postgraduate programmes for students currently enrolled in the fourth year under the new academic structure. Seats for these courses have already been allocated as part of the revised curriculum framework.

The admission committee also approved the fee structure for various courses. All decisions taken during the meeting will now be placed before the academic council for final approval at its meeting scheduled on April 10.
