The Bar Association of Dehradun has called off its strike on Wednesday after receiving a positive assurance from chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Notably, the Bar Association had been boycotting the district magistrate’s court since April 4. The protest also included a boycott of revenue courts and the registrar’s office. The strike began after the DM had sent a letter to the Bar Council of Uttarakhand and the Bar Council of India, seeking cancellation of the license of former Bar Association president, Premchand Sharma.
The president of the Bar Association of Dehradun, Anil Kukreti, said that their team had met Dhami at his office and informed him about their issues. “Following this, the CM gave a positive assurance, after which we decided to end the strike. CM assured to speak to the DM to resolve the differences between advocates and the administration,” he said.
