HNB Garhwal University VC meets President

The newly appointed vice chancellor of HNB Garhwal Central University, Shriprakash Singh met President Droupadi Murmu on Friday and discussed several important topics.

 Singh said that he updated the President on various new initiatives and proposals being undertaken by the university. He provided details about the preparations for the upcoming academic session and the academic framework that is being implemented. The VC said that the university has fully adopted the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, focusing on flexible curricula, interdisciplinary studies and the inclusion of vocational skills.

Additionally, Singh said he also informed presidents about the university’s vision to establish a wellness centre that would utilise Himalayan resources to provide health benefits to visitors while also generating employment opportunities for local youth. This initiative aims to promote traditional medicine, yoga, herbal products and others.

Highlighting Uttarakhand’s socio-cultural and military background, Singh informed the President about the launch of a special certificate course for Agniveer at the university.

Singh informed that the President appreciated the university’s efforts and suggested that faculty, students and researchers spend time in villages to better understand the lives, needs and experiences of local people. He said that she stated that this exposure would help students gain deeper insights into issues such as migration and rural realities, ultimately enabling them to become more empathetic and effective leaders in government and other sectors in the future.

Singh assured the President that a detailed action plan would be prepared soon in response to her suggestions.
