House functioned 41 hours during budget session in summer capital

Vidhan Sabha Speaker Ritu Khanduri said that the budget session which was adjourned sine die during the early hours of Saturday was successfully organised. She expressed gratitude to all the members for an organised session.
The speaker informed that the session which commenced with the address of governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh on March 9 functioned for a total of 41 hours and 10 minutes. The members sat for a record 12 hour and 10 minutes on the last day of the session when the budget of Rs 1.11 lakh crore was passed by the house.
She said that four ordinances and 11 bills were passed by the Vidhan Sabha during the Budget session. The house also passed Uttarakhand Appropriation Bill 2026-27 (budget) in the session. The house took up five non-government resolutions, four petitions and one proposal under rule 105. Similarly, the Vidhan Sabha secretariat received 25 applications under rule 58 out of which 17 were accepted. A total of 300 applications were received under rule 300 out of which 21 were approved while 30 were forwarded for calling the attention.
The VS secretariat received a total of 595 questions by the members out of which 291 were answered. The speaker said that she allowed a large number of supplementary questions by the members to ensure that the maximum number of MLAs can put up questions related to their constituencies.
