PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Haridwar

To make the holy city clean, beautiful and green, the Haridwar-Roorkee Development Authority (HRDA) has accelerated beautification and green development work in various areas.

Providing information in this matter, the vice-chairman, HRDA, Sonika said that currently, beautification and green development work has been initiated in selected areas of the city. These works include development of vacant land, planting trees, creating green belts and efforts to enhance public spaces, she said.

She further said that in future, the scope of these works would be expanded to encompass the entire city. “Our teams are surveying various parts of the city and identifying locations where beautification and green belts can be developed. Under the plan, large-scale tree planting and environmental conservation work will be undertaken to strengthen the city’s green belt, thereby improving the city’s overall environment,” she added.

Further, coordination has been established with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). According to HRDA officials, certain areas along the national highway will also be developed as green belts, increasing the city’s green cover and strengthening its ecological balance.

The Horticulture department officials said that the successful implementation of these plans would not only enhance Haridwar’s beauty but also provide a clean environment for its citizens. In the coming months, a large-scale campaign will be launched to strengthen the city’s green belt, thus establishing Haridwar’s reputation as a clean and green city, they added.
