Singh assumes charge of UJVNL MD, vows to increase power generation capacity

The newly appointed managing director of UJVN Limited Ajay Kumar Singh took charge on Thursday.

His appointment was made by a selection committee headed by the chief secretary. Shortly after assuming charge, Singh said that he will make every effort to live up to the trust reposed in him through complete integrity, transparency, accountability and a result-oriented work style. He said that his objective is to establish UJVN Limited as one of the country’s leading, technically competent and financially strong energy enterprises and to accelerate the State government’s vision of making Uttarakhand self-reliant in the energy sector.

Singh said that his top priority would be to expedite the completion of all the corporation’s ongoing hydroelectric projects, including the Lakhwad Multipurpose Project.

He said that by accelerating the renovation, modernization and up-gradation (RMU) works of old hydropower plants, their production capacity and reliability will be increased. Furthermore, a phased and time-bound action plan will be worked out for the expansion of solar energy projects, green hydrogen, battery energy storage systems (BESS), geothermal energy and development of pumped storage projects. He added that expanding power generation capacity, making Uttarakhand an energy surplus state and providing employment to the youth of Uttarakhand will be his top priorities in the future.

He said that optimal utilization of the corporation’s available human resources, the incorporation of modern technology, innovation, good governance, timely decision-making and financial discipline will be the foundation of the organization’s work culture.
