IG Garhwal reviews preparations for Char Dham Yatra

To ensure smooth and safe Char Dham Yatra, the inspector general of police (IG) Garhwal, Rajeev Swaroop held a meeting with all district police chiefs through video conferencing on Tuesday. During the meeting, he gave important instructions to make the yatra well-organised and convenient for pilgrims.
The IG also asked officials to identify holding areas for pilgrims on time and coordinate with other departments to ensure that the pilgrims face no problem due to administrative decisions.
He instructed that proper accommodation arrangements must be made for the additional police forces to be deployed during the yatra. All station in-charges were told to remain active in their areas and regularly check the arrangements.
The IG also directed officers to hold meetings with traders, taxi unions and hotel owners before the yatra commences to ensure better coordination. He emphasised the need to keep a close watch on social media and take quick action against any rumours or misleading information.
Senior police officers from different districts, including Haridwar, Pauri, Tehri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi and Dehradun, were present in the meeting.
