Igas to be celebrated on Nov 1 at CM residence: Bhatt

The Igas festival will be celebrated on November 1 at the residence of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Stating this on Thursday, the vice president of the Uttarakhand Culture, Literature and Arts Council Madhu Bhatt said while addressing the media that the folk festival Igas will be celebrated with significant fanfare throughout the State, with numerous public officials attending events. Bhatt also said that the Igas festival will be marked with considerable festivities at the CM residence on November 1. Additionally, she said that this year will also commemorate the silver jubilee of Uttarakhand’s establishment, coinciding with the Igas festival. Cultural performances related to the silver jubilee will be showcased at the Himalayan Cultural Centre (HCC) in Dehradun from November 1 to November 9, featuring participation from individuals across various Himalayan States, she informed.

It will be recalled that Culture Department Secretary Yugul Kishore Pant recently informed that to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the State, the Culture department will host the “Ninaad – Himalayan Art, Music and Culture Festival” from November 1 to 9 at the HCC. Throughout the nine-day event, various sessions will take place, each highlighting Uttarakhand’s folk traditions, classical music, theatrical performances and cultural discussions. The aim of the festival is to familiarise the younger generation with the State’s rich heritage and folk customs. Esteemed artists from Uttarakhand and other regions of the country will take part in the celebration.
