The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kashipur hosted its premier sector conclave, ‘Navayug 2026: Reinventing BFSI’ on the weekend, bringing together C-suite executives, risk strategists, HR leaders and academic scholars to deliberate on the shifting paradigms across Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI). The gathering focused on two critical strategic imperatives: transitioning toward skills-first, AI-augmented talent architectures and deploying enterprise-grade Artificial Intelligence (AI) anchored in robust human risk governance.

In the session titled ‘The Financial Professional Reimagined’, industry experts examined how rapid technological integration is redefining leadership, human resource strategy and organisational culture. The panel underscored that while AI drastically accelerates analytical workflows-turning 8-hour data processing tasks into 15-minute executions-individual intellect, skepticism, and human oversight remain indispensable. Experts noted that as candidate applications become increasingly AI-assisted, future talent strategies will prioritise original thinking, trust-building, and authentic relationship management over baseline technical execution. The session titled ‘The Intelligent Financial Enterprise’ had deliberations on corporate strategy, credit risk architecture and digital scalability. Experts cautioned against institutional reliance on monolithic AI models and uniform data pools, which risk compounding historical biases and widening financial exclusion. Corporate strategists projected that while AI will significantly reduce per-unit economic costs and generate strong revenue multiplier effects over the next two to three years, the immediate operational hurdle facing financial enterprises is capturing and converting unstructured data into structured intelligence.

“Tech giants are investing upwards of $200 billion in capital expenditure this year to scale AI infrastructure, yet AI cannot replace fundamental management principles. The key imperative for management education is teaching professionals how to complement AI, challenge its outputs, and navigate its application effectively,” said Gurveer Singh Jaswal, Associate Professor of Practice (Strategy), IIM Kashipur.

Senior officials from Axis Bank, Anand Rathi Wealth Limited, Bajaj Finserv, Credit Saison, Axis Max Life Insurance, RBL Bank, Lendingkart, Acko Insurance, Apollo Global Management and DBS Bank also expressed their views on the occasion.
