Governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh paid obeisance at Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines on Tuesday.
In Kedarnath, the government also performed a special Rudrabhishek prayer and sought blessings for welfare and prosperity of humanity and sustainable development of Uttarakhand.
He conducted an inspection of the ongoing reconstruction and development work at Kedarnath Dham. The officers informed the governor about the ongoing construction work at the shrine. They informed that most of the reconstruction work has been completed and the remaining work is in its final stages of completion. The governor also met the Teeth Purohits during the visit. The governor was informed that the construction of the buildings being built for the Teerth Purohits is almost complete and issues related to land and building allocation have been resolved.
Describing the visit as a deeply spiritual and emotional experience, the governor said, “Every particle of Kedarghati is filled with Shiva. The presence of Lord Shiva is felt in the mountains here. The mind becomes absorbed in meditation as soon as one sets foot on this sacred land.”
He said that significant progress has been made in pilgrimage management and reconstruction over the past three years.
After visiting Kedarnath, the governor visited Badrinath Dham. Participating in a special puja, he prayed for the happiness and prosperity of the country and the State. In the visit the governor took information about the ongoing works of the Badrinath master plan from Rudraprayag district magistrate Gaurav Kumar. He expressed satisfaction over the progress of civic amenity centre, community centre, arrival plaza and Hospital building.
The governor said that the kind of development taking place in Badrinath is a step forward towards the goal of a self-reliant India. In his visit the governor directed the executing agency to prepare and provide documentation along with photographs of the progress of the master plan works. He also directed to keep the cleanliness system of both Shesh Netra and Badrish Lake smooth and to ensure proper maintenance of the Aastha Path.
Senior officers of the district administration and the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee accompanied the governor.
