PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE /Dehradun

The Dehradun district administration demolished an illegal mazar built on government land in the Shishambada area of Vikasnagar Tehsil on Tuesday.

Officials said that the land was recorded as government property in official records, but it had been illegally occupied and a mazar along with some temporary structures had been constructed there.

According to the administration, notices were issued and all required legal procedures were completed before the demolition. A team from the Revenue department along with police personnel and other officials reached the site and removed the encroachment.

Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Chauhan said that the administration will continue its campaign against illegal occupation of government land. He said that government property belongs to the public and any unauthorised occupation will not be allowed.

The district administration is conducting surveys in different Tehsils to identify encroachments and is taking action in a phased manner. Officials have also appealed to residents to inform the administration about any illegal occupation of government land so that timely action can be taken.
