Wants the Yoga Guru to provide the list of the hospitals where trials of Patanjali medicines were conducted

The controversy triggered by the statements of Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev questioning the effectiveness of the allopathic system of medication is escalating with each passing day. The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Uttarakhand state branch has now challenged Ramdev to answer the questions posed by its experts. It has asked Ramdev to constitute a team of qualified and registered Ayurvedacharyas for one to one discussions with a team of doctors of IMA. The IMA, Uttarakhand has already formed its team.

In a letter directed to Ramdev the secretary of IMA Uttarakhand, Dr Ajay Khanna said, “ You have already floated your 25 questions in public domain and you and your team should be ready to face questions from our experts.’’

The IMA Uttarakhand has also demanded from Ramdev, the list of hospitals involved in the studies conducted by the Patanjali Yogpeeth of its products. Ramdev in a television programme had claimed that the products of Patanjali are very effective as proved by trial on thousands of patients in allopathic hospitals. The IMA has demanded that Ramdev should submit the list of the hospitals where the trials were held.

The controversy started recently when addressing a group of people, Ramdev had said that allopathy is a stupid and bankrupt science. He said that all medicines used against Covid-19 have failed and the doctors don’t have any treatment. When the allopathic doctors raised their strong objection and the Union minister of Health and Family welfare termed his statement unfortunate, Ramdev took back his statement. He however shot an open letter to IMA and posed 25 questions related to allopathy to them. The IMA on its part has threatened to file a defamation suit of Rs 1,000 crore on Ramdev. It also registered a complaint against the Yoga Guru.
