India loses place in the semis as NZ beats Afghanistan

India has lost its place in the T20 semi finals when New Zealand defeated Afghanistan by 8 wickets on Sunday. With this win, New Zealand has eliminated both India and Afghanistan from the semi-finals.
Afghanistan had won the toss and chose to bat first setting the target of 125 runs for the blackcaps. It was Kane Williamson and Devon Convay 68-run partnership that led to New Zealand’s victory hence qualifying for their 14th ICC semi-final. The match was played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
Virat Kohli’s men in blue had played their last match against Scotland where India beat them by 8 wickets. Despite being out of qualification race, both India and Namibia will battle it out today against each other in their the final league match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.
England and Australia from Group 1 while Pakistan and New Zealand from Group 2 have sealed their spots in the T20 semi-finals.
