A hearing was held in the Uttarakhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) on complaints related to some schools. Cases related to schools in Rishikesh and Srinagar regions were particularly considered at the hearing.
The commission expressed concern over the minority educational institutions remaining unregistered under the RTE Act. It also directed the chief education officers to ensure that the
block education officers (BEOs) working under them check the status of society registration, minority status and registration under the RTE Act of all the schools in their respective districts. The report must be submitted to the commission on September 20.
