Ahead of the release of her controversial film ‘Emergency’, Kangana Ranaut, who plays the role Indira Gandhi in it, said in a video interview to a news agency that in the course of her extensive research, she had found that the former Prime Minister was essentially a weak lady, ‘unsure of herself’, ‘vulnerable’, contrary to the public perception of her as the Iron Lady. “I used to think too that she was powerful, but my research has changed my perception,” she said.
The first-time MP from Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) who often hogs the headlines for her scathing comments said that there was not a single director in the film industry under whom she wanted to work, adding that they did not have that kind of quality.
On the legendary former PM, she further said that Indira Gandhi had many crutches around. Dependant heavily on the likes of Sanjay Gandhi, she had been constantly seeking a kind of validation, Ranaut said.
She also said she had run into Priyanka Gandhi in the Parliament and she had complimented her on her work and her hair, too. She said she had requested Priyanka to watch the film.
