The Information commission has imposed a penalty of Rs 40,000 on the public information commissioners (PIO) of special land acquisition office and infrastructure rehabilitation division Tehri for not providing clear information on the rehabilitation of Tehri dam displaced.
The State Information Commissioner Yogesh Bhatt imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 on the PIO of the Special land acquisition office, Tehri for providing information after one year to the petitioner. Bhatt also expressed surprise at the fact that the PIO is not a gazetted officer. In another case he imposed a penalty of Rs 15,000 on the PIO of infrastructure rehabilitation division, Tehr for providing misleading facts in a Right to Information (RTI) query by applicant Shilpi Negi.
