The district administration of Uttarkashi is planning to set up an integrated sound broadcast system from Jankichatti to Yamunotri for better management and transmitting necessary information to the pilgrims. The district magistrate Meharban Singh Bisht said that the system will help in better management of the Yatra. He directed the district Panchayat to install the system and said that the necessary budget for this will be approved.
Bisht, who is conducting inspection of the Yamunotri Yatra route and arrangements since the last two days, said that the rotation and pre-paid system for the horses-mules and palanquin carriers should be strictly implemented. On Sunday, the DM visited Ranachatti, Hanumanchatti and Jankichatti areas. He directed the officers of district Panchayat and Jal Sansthan to make necessary arrangements for the Yatra.
Bisht said that the role of district Panchayat is important for a smooth Yatra. He said that the district Panchayat should prepare an SOP for Yatra arrangements and ensure that there is no disorder on the bridle path. The DM also inspected the solid waste management plant at Jankichatti. He directed that the plant should be operated in its full capacity by bringing waste from nearby places. At the horse- mule prepaid counter the DM said that the pre-paid and rotation system should be transparent and free from glitches. He said that the ill and injured horses and mules should not be used for ferrying pilgrims in the Yatra.
The DM also inspected sanitation, street lights, drinking water and toilets on the Yatra route.
