Senior scientist at Inter-University Accelerator Centre, Pankaj Kumar has said the role of ion accelerators is of paramount importance in modern science and technology. He was addressing a programme at Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand University during the ongoing National Science Week on Friday. “Be it Physics, nuclear physics, biology, agriculture, food processing and medicine the ion accelerators are proving to be very important in every field. Even the use of ion beams has increased very rapidly for the purpose of promoting research and development and has become easily accessible in every field of science. This is the reason that during the past two decades interdisciplinary research using ion beams is being conducted to revise the structure, electrical, light and magnetic properties of various materials and pave the way for new discoveries. From this you can imagine how important ion accelerators and ion beams have become in our life in today’s era,’’ he said.
The chancellor of the university Sanjay Bansal and pro chancellor Aman Bansal, vice chancellor Preeti Kothiyal, PVC R K Tripathi, Neha Dobhal, Sanjeev Kimothi and others were present on the occasion.
