Indian classical dancer, actor, film producer and environmentalist — Arushi Nishank — believes that talent is not what gets appreciated through material kinds, but a power that enlightens the inner soul and radiates it vibrancy to the world around.
She recently announced her Bollywood debut, in association with T-Series, with the music video Wafa Na Raas Aayee. The song, within few hours of the release, crossed 100 million views.
Arushi said that the shoot and the whole process was initially a bit challenging for her as it was her first project. The daughter of the Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, said, “I hardly knew the technical language but my co-stars and director were so corporative and helpful that I could execute everything with complete ease. Moreover, the shoot was in Kashmir in the month of January. You must imagine the weather conditions there. It was really difficult to shoot in the ‘not so friendly’ weather. However, I must say that the journey has been delightful.”
Arushi has been felicitated with multiple award and recognitions by Government of India and Uttarakhand. She is also an active promoter of social reforms programmes led by the government. Apart from being a dedicated Kathak dancer of global repute, she has left her footprint in the fields of entrepreneurship, poetry, literature as well as film production.
She has contributed towards environment by actively joining the drive of Sparsh Ganga Campaign in 2008. Arushi has also chaired the International Women Empowerment Summit, which was supported by the United Nations. As a chairperson, she is actively working towards the cause of lower girl ratio, women participation in different sectors, their safety and improving economic independence for woman through education.
She has composed and performed in more than 15 countries in the timespan of 16 years. Arushi established her own production house — Himshrri Films. In 2018, she produced a regional film Major Nirala under her banner. She certainly seems to be the jack of all trades.
