Visit to boost employment opportunities for State’s youth in Japan

In a boost to the efforts of the State government to provide overseas employment to the youngsters, experts of a career guidance company of Japan visited the Regional Employment Office at Survey Chowk, Dehradun and Doon University on Tuesday. At the Regional Employment Office, the Japanese delegation interacted with trainees learning Japanese language under the Chief Minister’s Skill Upgradation and Global Employment Scheme and gathered information about their Japanese language, technical skills and employment-related preparedness. The representatives informed the students about correct pronunciation of Japanese language, practical communication and corporate ethics. They also made the students aware of the work culture of Japan. The delegation informed that at present there is a need for young people skilled and knowing Japanese language in various fields like IT, hospitality, engineering and caregiving in Japan.
The director Employment, Narendra Singh Bhandari accompanied the delegation. He said that under the leadership of chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami the State government is continuously striving to provide global employment opportunities to the youth. “Through the Chief Minister’s Skill Upgradation and Global Employment Scheme, youth are being provided with training in foreign languages, as well as international work culture and necessary employment-related skills. The arrival of representatives of prestigious Japanese companies in Uttarakhand is a positive sign for the youth of the State, which will provide them with better employment opportunities abroad.
At Doon University, the delegation met with the faculty and placement officers of the Japanese Language department. The meeting discussed in detail how to make Japanese language education more effective and employment-oriented, promote academic collaboration and expand higher education and employment opportunities in Japan for students. The delegation noted that a successful career in Japan requires knowledge of the language, as well as an understanding of Japanese work culture, social behaviour, lifestyle and cultural values. The two sides also agreed to further strengthen educational and skills development cooperation in the future.
The additional secretary to the Chief Minister, Manmohan Mainali said that the cooperation being established with various countries including Japan will play an important role in opening new doors of quality employment and career for the youth of Uttarakhand.
