A woman from Saharanpur in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh has filed a complaint at Vikasnagar Kotwali police station alleging that her 25-year-old son was kidnapped and murdered by four of his friends over a money dispute. In her complaint, Rakhi, a resident of Firaheri village claimed that her son Shantanu alias Shanu had lent around Rs five lakh to four friends. She alleged that whenever her son asked for the money back, the accused kept delaying the payment while making false promises.

According to the complaint, on July 16, Shantanu had gone to his workplace near Ballia Khedi on Delhi Road in Saharanpur. Around 5 PM, the four accused allegedly took him with them after telling him they would return the money. Rakhi alleged that the accused then took her son near the Vikasnagar canal and murdered him as part of a planned conspiracy. The police registered an FIR in the case on Monday.

The family was informed about the incident by the Dakpatthar police outpost on July 17. In the complaint, Rakhi has requested the police to register a case of murder, kidnapping and criminal conspiracy against the four named accused, arrest them at the earliest and provide security to her family. The Vikasnagar police have registered an FIR in the case and started investigation in the matter.
